Andrew first discovered his passion for the Great Outdoors as a child on weekend outings with the extended family into the Maltese countryside. He always knew that there was a world of enjoyment out there but didn’t really connect fully until he completed his first climb in 1985. Even though this was a small, 8m scramble, he was immediately besotted with the experience, and now – almost 40 years later – he still feels that same frisson of excitement every time he ties into the sharp end of a rope to lead yet another climb. The passion has taken him from the relatively sheltered crags of the Maltese Islands to some amazing – sometimes dangerous – cliff and mountain adventures on four continents and in almost every country he has visited. His highest peak so far has been the high-altitude ascent of Anka Huma in Bolivia in the rarified air at 6425m above sea level.

Andrew has taken his passion for climbing and turned it into a vocation. He set up the Malta Rock Climbing Club in 1996, in order to give anyone interested in the sport an opportunity to try it out. He created, together with the Malta Tourism Authority, the MTA-MRCC Bolting Project in 2005, a voluntary project which has resulted in Malta developing into an internationally renowned sport climbing destination. He produced Malta Rock Climbing – the Comprehensive Guidebook in 2007 and then set up MC Adventure in 2010. Starting out as a small guiding company for visitors from overseas wishing to do some rock climbing while on Malta, MC Adventure has grown into the leading adventure company and outdoor teambuilding provider on Malta, introducing such innovative activities as ziplines, via ferratas, skywalks and many others not previously seen on these islands. From a small side-business, it has grown into the main activity of MC in Malta and looks forward to a bright future with many new innovations in the field of outdoor adventure projected for the near future.

Andrew still delights in taking guests out to enjoy the very best that the Maltese countryside has to offer. He has a wealth of knowledge about the development of climbing in Malta – having been at the centre of this development over the last four decades, and is happy to share this knowledge as he leads our guests to locations that are nothing less than hidden gems of the Maltese landscape. Andrew climbs regularly both in Malta and overseas and continues to develop new climbs and new bonds of friendship through the medium of these amazing experiences that the Great Outdoors provides us with.
